Eight Simple Drawing Ideas to Try This Fall

Here are eight simple drawing ideas from the archive to try this fall because sometimes it’s nice to find all your ideas in one place.

Fall Drawing Ideas

If you’re like me, sometimes, you don’t want to hunt for all of those drawing ideas. You just want to flip through them all together to see which ones you feel like working on. With that in mind, I compiled several drawing ideas from past tutorials.

Some of them are from blog beginnings, so they may not have videos. The ideas are just as fun. I’ve divided them even further into categories: focus on watercolor backgrounds, for the love of drawing pumpkins, a bit of fun with loose watercolor, and drawing with lazy stippling.

What are you waiting for? Explore!

(Oh! And several of these have free printable worksheets to use as you draw. Find all of the free printables on the Worksheet page.)

Focus on Watercolor Backgrounds

Use fall watercolor backgrounds as backdrops for your calligraphy or fall drawings.

Fall Quotes, Calligraphy Styles, and Watercolor Backgrounds

In this tutorial, you’ll learn about two different watercolor techniques you can use to create fall watercolor backgrounds. Then, try three different lettering styles to add fall quotes to them.

Thanksgiving Drawings for Name Cards

Use the free printable for ideas or to print some fall drawings for name cards on a piece of watercolor paper. Then use one or both watercolor background methods to add some fall color to them.

For the Love of Drawing Pumpkins

Pumpkins are so fall!

Pumpkin Drawing with a Flourish

Draw this fancy pumpkin with some curling, twirling vines. Use the printable worksheet to get a few flourishing ideas to piece together and create your own flourished vines.

Pumpkin Sketches and Fall Words

Create a collection of cute pumpkin sketches overlapping watercolor pumpkins. Then fill the sky with words that bring fall to life for you.

A Bit of Fun with Loose Watercolor

Some loose watercolor adds a fun feel to your fall drawings.

Fall drawing on Loose Watercolor

Let your watercolor layers get really loose when you try this fall drawing. Add a pumpkin drawing, a corn stalk, and maybe “Hello, Fall!” in your favorite calligraphy style to finish it off.

Cute Fall Drawing

Draw me (like in the tutorial) or for an extra challenge, draw yourself with sweater hair. Oh, would I ever love to see those drawings!

Drawing with Lazy Stippling

Use lazy stippling to add texture to your fall drawings.

Maple Leaf Drawing

After you paint a maple leaf drawing, use the printable worksheet to draw three more leaf shapes. Use lazy stippling to color them all in fall colors.

Acorn Drawing

Fill the cap of this acorn with the texture of lazy stippling. Then use a wet on wet technique (or more lazy stippling) to paint the future oak tree.

There you have it. Eight fall drawing ideas to try. I hope you have fun exploring the colors, shapes, and lines. I know I did.

Enjoy the process,
